It's interesting you should say that about used items, because I'm completely switched off to them in my mind. The problem being, I have no clue what to look for it terms of a potential problem. I guess buying off a known source (club, forum member etc) would help eliminate that to a certain extent, but I'd still be really nervous about used kit without some expert advice. :?

So, is Christel selling the IOR then? ;)

Exactly that one.

I bought mine from Border Barrels though. I do believe they are the official importers of IOR scopes.

That price on Midwayuk is rather high, I am confident back when I bought mine I paid less than a grand.

Ah I was wrong...

This is from Border Barrels website.

"We regret to announce that we are no longer the UK agents for IOR Scopes. In the current economic climate, we could not see how we have a profitable relationship with IOR and so, in fairness to IOR, we asked them to find someone else to represent them in the UK.

Until IOR find a replacement, we will continue to handle enquiries, and also any returns or warrenty matters. However, we will be running down such stock as we still have of IOR scopes."

I seem to remember Christel's IOR plus rings and lapping bar was around the GBP950 mark, now given the quality of the glass that was a very good price, the MidwayUK price is high but could be a reflection of the current UK market. If I was going to put out 1500 quid on a 'scope I would look for a used S&B.

Our Kahles 312 FFP mildot was less than that!!

One thing I can say about the S&B PMII is they are single or two turn turrets so you have very little chance of getting lost with the number of turns on the turret.

If you come down to Bisley between the 3-6 November the F-Class Europeans are on, I should think most makes of scope will be around. Certainly, plenty of Sightrons, Nightforce that are commonly used. I would think there will be a few in the trade tent to look at and I'm sure if you ask around anyone will let you look through what ever they have fitted. You would be more than welcome to look through my Sighton 10-50x60.
