Shouldn't be allowed. Ought to be a law against them. Should be licensed and kept in a safe. That could kill people*

What an awesome landing that was, bloody skilful if you ask me. I remember seeing a video years ago of about 25 RC planes and helicopters crashing upon landing. I wonder how much cash that whole plane is. What do you reckon? £20K?

One did, a couple of years ago if I remember rightly, a model Vulcan.* Cracking thing to have though, I looked into RC jets a while back but gave up any hope when I found that the two engines alone would have cost around three times more than my car... :o
*Edit: tried to find some info online to back this up and failed. Almost certain I saw a news story about it though.

I won an RC plane in a competition at work years ago. It had a real engine with fuel, wasn't an electric one, and was rather nice.

Of course, me being a total smart ar5e, I thought I could fly it without any lessons. After all, how hard can it be? :?

Maiden flight lasted about 10 seconds.....it went rapidly up at a steep angle to about 40 feet, then came back down at a similar angle and speed.

End of RC plane.

I built a powered glider with the kids years ago, just over 2m wingspan. we launched it one afternoon and it did the same, went nealry vertical so I pushed the nose down and that was the end of it, flight time maybe three seconds.

Jenks,

You're going to cost me a fortune if you keep this up!

I looked into RC aircraft after leaving the industry and started teaching. My plan was to start a club where i could attract those kids with a natural interest in Engineering and filter them into suitable courses. Unfortunately the costs were just too much and i couldn't get any interest from likely sponsors.

The ones i like are the older jets like the Buccaneer, Javelin, Meteor, Vampire, etc Those jets had character.
