Can I ask why you could not get on with a MN.
I was 18, it was my first firearm and I had no idea what I was doing. I hated the trigger, had no idea how to aim or allign the sights. The ammo I had was crappy, heavy ball, MG ammo and every 5th cartridge burst and I got a face full of crud and that hurt.

All in all I was just put off, so I traded it for a P14 - but I think I'll get myself another 91/30 when I have some pennies. Now that I'm older and wiser  , and I can actually hit what I aim at, I'd like to re-visit the ol' Russian beast

One of the first rifles i bought was my Model 44 carbine, beast of a rifle, got that when I was 18, however being a large person the recoil didn't bother me too much

Excellent rifle - That is an ex dragoon, and no doubt it is a Tula , the ex dragoon's argubally the best Russian made 91.30's. Great buy !

From memory the dragoon's were shorter than the snipers?

Something about being on a horse?

Amazing how fast one forgets when not using the info... :G

Correct, the 1925 date is a dragoon date and they originall came with shorter stocks, in 1930 they upated most of them to the 91.30 spec - hence being called ex-dragoon. These are desirable and tend to have larger arsenal stamps.

Thanks - I love em, wish I could have more. Problem is that when something "has to go" to make way for another firearm, them poor buggers are 1st in line.

I let go of my m44, but now going to get a war dated 91.30 maybe a fin sa capture, tula of course with a wartime stock.
