All the coloured ones, besides the first are current.

The Mumbles railway got ripped out in the late 50s I think, after a fatal accident. Swansea council are idiots. North and East Swansea were highly industrialised but Port Talbot is the only heavy industry left...Steel production by Corus. Swansea in late 1800s, even before your time GordonR :) used to be copper production, world scale.

I think biggest emlpoyers there now are DVLC and 3Ms.

Glad I left, job wise. Can't afford to live on Gower now.

Coal and Steel are long gone otherwise.

Going South/West out of Swansea leads onto the Gower which is like Jersey..absolutely beautiful countryside, farms and all types of bays from coves to long bays like Rhossili..see picture.

I was from Gorseinon which had a lot of coal and steel..all gone now.

What used to be in Steel...

RTB Landore...now the enterprise zone containing the usual retail sheds, car dealerships and offices,
Duport Steel, Llanelli...vacant lot.
Baldwins, Gowerton...housing estate.
Occonor and Davies, Kingsbridge...long gone.
BSC, Velindre...vacant lot.
Trostre rolling mill...mothballed.

Borg Warner...long gone.

No deap mines...think Tower Colliery in Hirwaun has closed.

I think International Nickel, Clydach are still going. Still a birth defects hot spot.

They are thinking about opencast in Margam still.

Electronics Industry on its way out...eg Sony, Bridgend closed.

It's all banking and Insurance call centres.

Not trying to wind you up again Targetman..but I know you will take a peak... ;)

SWANSEA!

The Woodman...and Clyne Lodge...My father in law ran a farm ...The Mount in the Mayals and he was in the pub when the gerries dropped a bomp that sent schrapnel thru the passage, just after he went to the back room. My Dad used to take us kids during the 50s to the motor boats at Blackpill, and nip over for a half...literally 20 mins...wouldn't do that now would you?

Those were the days...
