The information I have about the no owner tag under the butt plate, is my rifle has the letter P stamped in front of the serial number, meaning private sale/use not army issue so no tag.. I stand to be corrected if anyone knows different.

According to http://www.swissrifles.com/sr/faq/ - (right down the bottom of the page.)

Q. What about the "P" below the serial number.

The "P" stands for "PRIVAT" It was stamped on the rifle when it was given to the retiring soldier.

and yet this one http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/schmidt_rubin.html seems to confirm your serial number - (you need to go most of the way down.)

sorry I should have been clearer, all "issued" rifles if yours was originally produced for civilian use then you are quite right ... no tag I see you have joined swissrifles.com lots of info there, and those guys know their Schmidt Rubins

Beautiful K31! I especially like the match inspection stickers on the rifle, shows that it was used and not left in a closet. The K31s have become very popular over here. Large numbers were imported in fantastic condition and the price for them at one point was as low as $150 although costs have climbed to around $275/$300 now for a nice example. I've owned about 8 different K31s over the years but at this point have only kept two.




This is my 1952 with a left hand adapter installed.




This is my 1943 with a clamp on scope mount and ersatz #4 cheekrest now with a Nikon 3x-9x scope although the picture shows a Bushnell 4x scope. This is a heavy rig but pretty accurate for long range shooting.

Do you reload for yours or shoot GP11? I lucked into a large quantity of pulled 173gr FMJBT .30 bullets for a very affordable price so I use them plus opened up .284 Winchester brass for my reloads.

The last comp the rifle was used in was 2005 (not by me) I shot it yesterday on 200m very happy with the results..

I will be reloading for my k31 at present I'm shooting PPU reloadable ammo when it's gone I will reload it. GP11 is in very short supply if at all, when dealers get it in stock it's soon gone.
Nice pair of rifles, 52 same year as mine.

Yes, it is fabricated by some nice folks in Kalispel MT who are enthusiastic Swiss rifle shooters. Their products are marketed by Brownells and Graf's reloading, both are on the web.

The K31 is a pleasure to fire, easy to acquire the target with the sights nice trigger, shoulders very comfortably. I think you will like it. What I noticed was the bayonet, quit an expensive accessory for that particular rifle in the states. A very nice rifle you have acquired.
