I have been on an unladen, minimum fuel load B747 out of Heathrow and they actually managed a very short take off and 45 degree climb. Pushed hard back into the seat and then a nice near un-powered glide into Gatwick!

Herc = only good for jumping out of!

I have flown an awful lot of miles in C130s (Before the J arrived) and never really enjoyed any of it, get on ear defenders on - Hammock up/sleep - but I did enjoy jumping out of them. Spent a memorable spring/early summer with the Polish para's practicing for the D day celebrations - now that really was a good time!!

I have some very good friends that I see quite a lot who still fly them and or are Loadies etc - Good old Lyneham.

I only jumped out of Islanders. Always fun but not as much fun as paragliding :?

I jumped with a RAF display team back in the late 70's. First day I turned up to start one of the instructors walked over to me and told me run round the DZ whilst he had another cuppa. It was bloody good training and I used some of it a few years later when I took up paragliding.

jumpig out of perfectly good aircraft....... sign01 Nearest I ever got was paragliding from about 6000 feet..and I hate heights...

Weird feeling though, normally up a ladder gives me the wobblies but strangely relaxing on the way down...Funny how my "pilot" had bottled out of a try dive at 10 meters.

My paragliding was all in Derbyshire off the edges and invariably ended with me picking bracken out of the control lines when I packed the rig away. I did manage the occasional 40-50 minute flight :goodjob:
