PH M85 Barrel

#1 Post by Dangermouse »

My friend may be having to replace his original M85 barrel, not something that he wants to do as the rifle is currently all original.
Should he have to take the plunge does anyone know of anywhere that may have a new M85 Barrel?
.308/7.62 cal, should they have done it in any other!

Just running through Googgle and I see that Armalon are claiming
The company is finalising an expansion programme that will add to their existing largely CNC based production facilities, the complete barrel making plant previously owned and operated by Parker-Hale Limited. Also on hand are the key production personnel who successfully operated that plant
http://www.armalon.com/public/static/page/4
No idea how old the web page is or if the deal went through but it looks like a good avenue of exploration.
I also see that NC is selling a number of M85's on Gunmart. I seem to remember that a thread was ran on this rifle some time back and if memory serves me correct Norman Clarke had built up a enviable collection of M85 prototypes. He may also be a good person to approach.

I would say NC would be *the* only place to go for an M85 barrel but I could be wrong. That is a rifle model I have long wanted to get hold of.

Spoke to Norman Clarke at the Bisley open day last week asking after original 1200TX barrels - he said he bought most of PH's stock of barrels when they went under. Probably worth giving him a buzz.
