I thought I was in the Phoenix thread with ENS and was chatting which was wrong given the reason for this thread. The posts were removed.

Re: Maurice Ayling
We shall be saying our farewell to Maurice at 1200 on Wednesday 30th May at Chichester Crematorium.
He knew didn't he? That's why he chuckled last time I saw him, I have a target booked that day!

Re: Maurice Ayling
Maurice went well. At his request, the Royal Marine Band played Hearts of Oak as his coffin came into the packed chapel and Sussex by the Sea as he went out. It was standing room only and no space inside as the service started. Many of his chums were there, and his lovely family of course.
He had wanted it to be a proper celebration and had left the money for the first round in the pub. A celebration it was too and I'm glad to have been there. Viv and I booked the hotel next to the pub so that we could have our free drink.
Cheers Maurice

Re: Maurice Ayling
Great to hear that he had a good send off. Maybe the alcohol fumes reached him & he joined in, in spirit smile2
