Cheers for the replies folks, as I work shifts I can sometimes be off for a few days during the week and I would love to visit other ranges. Ideally I would like a similar system to that which golfers do, where you can hook up with other club members and get a range pass for a visit.

Is there such a thing in existence already?

Usually, insurance and legal complications mean that the best way to do it is to get your club "invited" to visit their club, then whoever from your club wants to go joins the party. It's actually against the Home Office Approval rules to run a system of "day or temporary membership", but there is an exemption for inter-club and open competitions, so doing it on a club-to-club basis is usually the easiest way of keeping it legal.

So if I want to shoot down south (I'm near Glasgow) I'll only be able to do so if my club secretary arranges a visit to another club, how does it work for competitions then?

Sconie - if you want to come to Diggle as a day visitor you are welcome to shoot in any of our competitions - I'm assuming you have an FAC for 'approved ranges'.
