Here are some pictures of my collection of a WWI French display I did last year at the Fall 2010 gunshow here in Albuquerque, I won a second place prize with it. This is just a small sample of my collection
I will post some of my French weapon related material on this board for you all in next few days, you will see that I enjoy researching it all and sharing it with you all.
I have heard French people call the .22 as cinq-six (5 6) probaly due to the metric number of the cartridge.

This is all actually very interesting, I look forward to reading up on your posts and the history.
I once asked about the "other" countries that took part in the wars and was dismissed very quickly, it would appear that if it is not, British, German or in some cases American, many are not interested and will not give it the time of day.
(I was scoped by a certain Russian Rifle so I leave them well a lone for my own good)

Robert still maintains the MAS is one of the most accurate rifles of all time, hopefully he will be along in a bit to comment.

Here is a picture of my good friend Sephton Allen who used to live in CA and reenacted with "A" Coy, 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers before he got deported back to England this year ... long story ...
He was a retired Royal Marine Sergeant Major who served in both the Falklands War and Gulf War
He was very knowlegeable with WWI British stuff and was fun to work with in the trenches, we had a good time yelling at one another about keeping our troops out of each others trench lines, you can imaging the curse words he used and me back at him ... all for fun

I will dig out some old pics I believe I have one of Patric shooting my MAS36 on one of our Millitary ranges whilst he was in the UK.
Question am I allowed to post a picture of him shooting on a military range in the UK
