Re: Dare to be different - Phoenix F Class entry
ovenpaa,
I was seriously thinking about entering if my house move was complete.
Would I embarrass myself with a factory CZ550 Varmint chambered in 0.308?
I think that S&L 6.5-284 of yours with the Kahles K312 3-12x scope is something special so there's no don't doubt in my mind that you'll be competitive.
I should've bought that rifle when I had the chance!

Is that the CZ you shot the McQueens with, if so you need have no concerns and I seem to remember you scored higher on the day than I did.lapua338 wrote:ovenpaa,

The S&L is rather special and is the first rifle I look at when I open the cabinet, I though it was a bargain especially coming with the Apel rings fitted, the Kahles was probably even more of a bargain, put them together and it is a stunning combination.
So, see you there?
Re: Dare to be different - Phoenix F Class entry
Thanks ovenpaa but unfortunately I shot the McQueens with my CZ527 Varmint chambered in .223!
That day on Short Siberia was very enjoyable despite the inclement weather!
I seem to shoot quite well with the .223 but I tend to struggle a little with the 0.308 at 500-600 yards if there's a breeze. I'm not particularly confident with my wind reading ability. I shoot OK but not great. Well, certainly not as good as I'd like.
That's one of the reasons I'm trying to put in more range time with the 0.308.

I really enjoyed that day despite the rain and my leaky army surplus raincoat. "Surplus for a reason" was the comment I got when I complained

Well that is me booked in for the F Open 400/500/600 Saturday with a Hunting rifle, anyone else care to join me?

Dare to be different...
I threatened, a few years ago, to shoot 'F' class with my number five.
Next year, perhaps I will!

Now here is an idea.... why don't I bring a shotgun down as a belated birthday present for an old git?

That, Sir, is a plan.
The gin pennant will be hoisted over the quarterdeck on Phoenix Saturday 1900.
