Or dovetail the front sight so you can adjust it for windage

Ooh! That's a bit high tech Dave - I was going to suggest Alaldite. Soft solder would be ok if the sight was on a bit of a base.
There's not much meat on the octagon barrel once there's a .44 hole in it.
