Yes, but this year, apart from the barrel, that was a standard old swing, with the original stock and a two point sling!...quite inspirational
The one thing I did notice about the rifles of the last 2 winners, is that they did modify them with sun-shades on the sights, and heat-shields (not sure on the correct term) on the barrels...

I wasn't quite mentally "with it" at the start of the shoot and lost points early on to a bad shot and a fluffed wind call; however about halfway through I gave myself a swift mental kick up the arse and put the rest in. It was the only shoot during the Imperial that I was unhappy with my mental performance. There were other shoots which were worse score-wise, but not in which I was quite as unglued.
All of the above said, I was very happy with my overall performance during the Imperial, having put a lot of training in over the past few months.
It's one thing reading a report, or the journal, but it's nice to get some informal info from those who competed ...especially from those who competed so well
Well done to Gaz and Steve E and all the others, some excellent scores put up. Glad to see John Warburton win the Queens, he has been a top shot for many years and well deserves his win.

I toddled along for the weekend to watch the Queen's Final and catch up with some old faces (and did I do that - it was like five years had never passed, terrifying...) and ended up having a blat at the Agincourt. Won a medal and found out about the British Alpine Rifles.
I won't mention the bibulous celebrations on Saturday night!
Being used to being outdone by my son, (by a million miles!), nevertheless, I did manage to get through to Queen's 2 this year with a 102. 7. First time ever! This should have been a 103 something, had I not dropped my last at 300, for no good reason, as ever! Who needs to shoot well when you have a son to do it for you? In spite of the rain, it was an excellent meeting. I think most people enjoyed themselves. For those who feel intimidated by the Meeting, there is the Aunts and Uncles scheme, run by Tim Elliot, where newcomers are guided through the complexities.

We really want more people to come and enjoy the greatest shooting festival on the planet, and will happily answer any and all questions. Answering questions allows us to talk about shooting while getting paid for it - what could be better ...?

Answers to questions and organisation will not be the best souvenir entrants and visitors will keep from this year"s Bisley.
I have to say that this year was my first Imperial meeting and I took advantage of the "Aunties and Uncles" scheme. I was appointed an Uncle who went through everything with me, answered all my questions and arranged to meet up with me after my first days shooting and went through my scorecards with me.
He then came and found me after Queen's 1 to make sure I have enjoyed the meeting and everything went OK.
I cannot praise this service enough and would like to publicly thank my Imperial Uncle Mr Robin Baker of the North London Rifle Club for all his help and the NRA for offering this. It made a daunting meeting most enjoyable
