I have a medium-heavy barrel and found my best results were that of copying the M118LR round with 175gr (SMK) HPBT and I get around the same as the stated 2580fps.

Got to admit that I do really like the look of the IDF M14 MLR (Winchester).
LDT M14 / M1A for long range shooting

Re: LDT M14 / M1A for long range shooting
Here's my version, but not really long range as it only has a 4x scope. I shoot it to 400 yds and could go further with a spotter but my wife refuses to go to the range and I usually have the 550 yd range to myself when I go during the week. The mount is a Bassett, doesn't need all the black magic and hoo-doo in mounting it that some of the other scope mount makers require.

Hello
Now that is an awesome looking piece of kit. It definitely ticks all my boxes

Showing the Bassett mount. The best and easiest way to mount a scope on an M14/M1A
Its companion piece: DSA 58 with their scope mount. Not a bad shooter but a very heavy trigger. The scope mount is a copy of the South African mount. Very steady.
