LDT M14 / M1A for long range shooting
Hi all.
I have decided on getting a more modern rifle for long(er) range shooting. I have always stuck with my old milsurps for the longer ranges (800 - 1000 yards), K98 sniper / Mosin sniper etc. Accuracy with these I have had some great days, but also had some very bad days (as you would expect?).
I will of course continue with the milsurps at this range, but I would like to get something with more assurance & capability, but without re-mortgaging the house to buy a super dooper target gun with a stock that has the same render pattern as my kitchen worktop.
Looking at these LDT M14's that are on the radar in the U.K , does anyone have one, what are they like ?
I would be looking to add a scope to one and copy a m14 like used in Iraq / Afghan etc
Not expecting competition winning accuracy, but just something that is capable of some "good" accuracy
Thanks in advance

The ones I have seen retail at about £1800 with iron sights you can get a lot of gun for that kind of money that will be a lot more accurate.

£1800 is what they are coming in at yes.
I like the idea that the M14 is an old design that is still used today in modern combat, I guess that being the major draw for me, and the multitude of configs.

What you don't see reported upon is how much time the unit armorers spend maintaining the M14s for use as designated marksman's rifles. M14s and their copies/clones etc have a reputation for requiring work to achieve and maintain accuracy. The method of attaching the action to the stock means that shimming and the like is often required. If you are prepared to do a lot of shooting and adjusting to get there, they can be accurate, but I have to agree that for that kind of money there are a lot better choices out there for true long-range shooting.

I think Halodin has one of these might be worth a PM.
