Barnett .22

#1 Post by Dave 101 »

Today I decided to take the Barnett to the range to see how its running as I might be using it in this years Field Firing Match . I have shortened the stock and cleaned up the butt plate that was glued to another piece of black plastic , the stock isnt original but it is old . I also removed a piece of wood that had been glued and screwed to the cheek rest , there is one brass screw still in the stock as I couldnt get it out . Whoever owned this before me must have been a giant of a man , the rifle weighs 16 lbs and the LOP was far to long for me , to shoot it off of the elbows is painful as its so heavy .
These are rather rare as there were only 250 of them made in 1947 .
See here for further info on the rifleman web site . http://www.rifleman.org.uk/The_Barnett_ ... 0Rifle.htm

The right hand side of the action , rather unusual action as the bolt slides back and forth by means of an underlever .

I zeroed it using Geco ammo at 25 yds on the bench with a front rest only , after shooting some groups I tried 5 rounds rapid fire and surprised myself , I think theres a good chance this will be at the FFM this year . The scope isnt marked with a makers name so know idea what it is very similar to a Fecker or Unertle .
