Wanted: LH smallbore rifle rear sight

#1 Post by hitchphil »

Having made a LH stock & bedded a RH Anschutz match 54 in it with a modified bolt to complete the LH training rifle project I need a LH rearsight; no iris or rain tubes, just the elevation windage bit.

Anybody got anything suitable available for a reasonable fee?

Meantime if I can find some carbide precision drills I can modify a RH sight to LH but where do you get 2.5 or 2.75mm TCT HSS drills?

Depends as ever on who wants them - they go for anything between £20 - £100 on fleabay? The basic fixed iris can add £5-10, a glare tube +£15-20 an adjustable iris with filters polarisers etc can double its value. People seem to think beccuse its LH its worth half as much again but then there are a lot fewer LHand buyers out there too! Also fleabay post (+post profit margin!) makes them more expensive & in my expereince the RoyalMail regularly trash packaging then avoid paying any compo **** . So I use Interparcel :goodjob: Then Ebay & paypal fees will take ~15% off your sale revenue.

I would be happy to pay ~£30 for the basic steel frame / adjustment & rail clamp to fit a Scouts rifle where it willl be used to train new people in the sport. But I have 6 so only need a LH one now. & if i can get a 5mm & ~2.7mm carbide drill I can reverse a RH sight to Left as the frames are darned hard (broke my drills on other things & cant find a supplier :bad: ).

The old alloy or steel framed ones are 6clicks per ring at 25yds or ~1/6th MOA, the newer ones with built in glare tubes 1/10th & the most modern ones can be 1/20th MOA! & I personaly dont think a human can do better than 1/8th? & its a marketing gizmo above that?

All our fullbore TR rifles are 1/4moa but are Clockwise up&right. Anschutz are ACW up & R....appart form LH sights that seems to be for FullBore CW up & ACW Right! wtfwtf then when my daughter shoots smallbore its AWC up & CW Right! wtfwtf wtfwtf ... so she has an 'Idiots guide' taped to her ammo box :goodjob:

When I go in to work on Monday I will see if I can find a supplier for the 2.5/2.75 and 5mm carbide drills you are looking for.
