My money's on 50 Meters with Tenex.

Batch testing involves shooting strings of 10 rounds through each barrel, which is clamped to a concrete base by a heavy vice. There is a wide selection of rifle and pistol clamping equipment to complement most rifle and pistol types, this is to help create realistic results and replicate match conditions as far as possible.

rifle action is clamped into a dummy stock and then into a pedestall

10 round groups of each batch available is then fired and the better initial groups are added to by another 3 10 round groups.

Good as it is, I still find .22 ammuntion a little disappointing. That was shot with a perfect barrel/action under perfect conditions and thousands of similar groups must have been shot over the last five years, that happens to be the very best.

Now compare that to the top scores seen at a high level centrefire bench rest match shot at twice the distance, it would only be "amongst the winners". I feel we should expect that sort of accuracy fairly regularly when shot from a bench at 50 yds with a reasonable match rifle.

Why isn't the .22rf more accurate, if it's the heeled bullet, why not change it? I've been shooting for more that 50 years and I can't see any real improvement in performance. I think the 100yd .22 prone match target is still the same as I was shooting in the 1960's with a Martini (Iron sights and a sling) and averaging in the 90's. (I know Olympic style shooting is now different) Centrefire accuracy has improved greatly over that time.

I think it is the cartridge itself an obsolete concept of two century ago.
