any???? I suppose of you have all known accessories fitted and have doubled the weight and then some it might help, are they REALLY necessary or just fashion du jour for firearms?

Personally I think they just get in the way, whether on .22 or .223.

I got one of these for a project I'm working on;

http://ant-supplies.co.uk/Pages/Airsoft ... ipods.aspx

Or if you're picky about having metal legs;

http://www.suffolkrifle.co.uk/shop/bipo ... g-inserts/

To be honest, I got the £15 job because I just wanted a grip that doubles as a stand. My club doesn't do all that 'room clearance' stuff, so I just went cheap and cheerful. The great thing about rimmys is that alot of the airsoft stuff can be used perfectly well on a rimfire (within reason).

If I was using anything bigger (.223+) then I'd spend a few more quid for something a bit more substantial.

All this reminds me of a conversation I had with the chaps at firesupport, a well known supplier in the airsoft world. They told me of guys putting £800+ leupolds etc on BB guns, in most cases, there is simply no point IMO of putting mil-spec gear on a rimmy that's shot only from a bench. That's why I went with the £15 job.

By the way, Tim at Ant Supplies is a fantastic guy and the service I've had has been great.

Hope this helps,

I had something similar for one of my builds, cost £80 back then before the market was flooded with Chinese replicas. I won't say fakes as they could be the same item and are built just as well.

For me I found that it added too much weight and being vertical did not give the best forehand position. It is now in the bits and bobs bin. If I need something to support my gun whilst I zero I use my range bag.

For £15 from the above link I don't think you will be too out of pocket if you give it a go and don't like it.

Cheers fellas, I think your right, probably to much dough for a rimmy so the cheaper option on the site may be the best option, I would probably go for the real deal if I had a .223 in AR platform, would probably work much better.
Cheap it is then :good:

Tbh I really wonder if more money does mean better product.

Would a real versa pod at £105 do any better than the £30 copy at Suffolk guns?

Does a real trijicon acog at $1500 perform better than a £150 airsoft copy?

Are Harris bipods made better or lighter than UTG, Rockwell or even the JSR offerings?

I think you need to take into account the calibre you're shooting, the type of shooting you're doing and whether you're a label slave or not.

Luckily, with rimmys I've found that cheaper alternative will easily do the job of their Gucci equivalents.

tkd67: I fitted the one I got from ANT supplies with pop out legs (cost about £15.00 a while back) to my T14 and Sig 556, it worked fine, a bit fussy about the rail on the Turkish T14 though and it is a bit long, even longer with the legs out..

In the end I prefer offhand shooting, don't do much prone so really just a show thing (it is lying in the tool box for now.

Even if you do CQB room clearing stuff, it's not necessary IMO - unless you have a heck of an all up weight and recoil. Seems just another bit of bling and an accessory that everyone is fitting because the other guy has one.

Understand, just thought it would help a little when the target is further away and you could you use the bipod for prone shooting, whilst eliminating some persentage of human error/swing...and I suppose for that purpose and at £15, not to bad of a buy..
