My MAUSER K98!

#1 Post by MartinS »

Hello all

Just thought you would like to see a few photo's of my newly acquired K98. :shakeshout: It's a S/42 1938 but not matching numbers and has a laminate stock which is also wrong for the year but the bore and metal work is in super condition. So here goes with a few pics, I do get carried away taking photo's! Just to warn you!!

Two more and thats it! Oh I forgot to say that the stock was a bit rough when I got it, so I refinished it by re-staining it and lots of fine rubbing down between coats of Tru Oil then finished with a super wire wool and wax to give a satin look.

Hello David

Yeah a week or to ago. Shoot it at 300 then 500 at Bisley. Not bad at all but no V's I'm afraid, that was with prvi 200gr IS match! Mostly 4's n 3's and a couple of bulls. I'm toying with the idea of putting a post war scope on it so it has windage adjustment.
Really good fun to shoot though. My target rifle hasn't seen a look in just yet. sign92

Cheers

Yeah the stock came good in the end. Not many genuine k98 kicking about these days. The one that are demand good money that I've not got. I wanted a shooter, and with a bit of elbow grease I've got one that looks good as well. party2
