Target shotgun bisley?

Target shotgun bisley?
Just wondering, target shotgun at bisley. Can you just call up book and range and shoot by yourself/group similar to how you do with a rifle range?
Reason I ask is we are about to start target shotgun but I often have random days off in the week and would like to pop down with my shooting buddy and so some practice.
Thanks

The only range at Bisley cleared for practise with solid slug is Butt Zero. It is usually available for hire for mornings or afternoons (i.e. 1/2 day minimum) which can work out a bit pricey if there's only one or two of you. However, if you speak nicely to the Range Office, they may let you book it for just an hour at a time.
Re: Target shotgun bisley?
It is, but you can't book it for practice which is what the OP is after.
Re: Target shotgun bisley?
Thanks guys, looking online it does look expensive but having said that between the 2 of us we spend £90 on a day out on the clays
Re: Target shotgun bisley?
If you are after spreading the costs it is worth mentioning any dates you book on this forum. Even if only one more person joins you it would make a difference.

Actually, if you ask, you may be permitted to use slug on any of Siberia, Century or Stickledown (800yd slug, anyone? Only if you know and can apply the correct elevation!!). The point about Butt Zero is that it is the only range where you may routinely use projectiles OTHER THAN slug for TS (see Range Safety Regulations para 2 i (iii) on page 45 of the Bisley Bible). Different arrangements may apply for a formal competition. The Cupcake Kid wrote:The only range at Bisley cleared for practise with solid slug is Butt Zero.

So as you can see you can see and straight from the NRA you can use Slug for practice on Siberia, just might have a problem booking it.

I love these forums
Now anyone reading this thread with a view to wanting to practice target shotgun at Bisley will be totally confused :cool2:
So, just to sum up and definitively answer the OP's question:
The only place at Bisley one can book some range space mid-week to practice target shotgun (i.e. shooting solid slug with a shotgun at targets from 10-30 yards) is Butt Zero.
If there's an alternative, please let us all know because we've been asking for the last few years!

Try Short Siberia, the NRA say all you have to do is ask, you could even shoot on Century but it might no be what you ar looking for as the distance to target might be a little bit too far. Poblem with Short Siberia is that it may already be booked.
