Mosin nagant long rifle scout scope mount.

#1 Post by Alpha1 »

Any body interested in purchasing a Darrel scout scope mount for a Mosin Nagant long rifle. The mount is probably the best quality scope mount you can buy. Darrel does not make them any more so they are difficult to find. Google Darrel mount and you will see how highly regarded and sought after they are in the States. There is no drilling and tapping involved it replaces the original rear sight you can switch it back in 30 minutes. You use it with a long eye relief pistol scope. I bought it from the States about five year ago I can vouch for its stability and with a short eye relief pistol scope it turned my Mosin Nagant into a tack driver over night.

I want £45 for it posted.

If there is any interest I will post pictures. This is a cracking piece of kit and possibly the only one in the UK its made from a solid billet of aluminium then hard anodised in the black with Brass grub screws to lock it in place.

Don't totally despair Darrel scope mount groupies, there is some hope that the man will start making his fine LER mounts again.

Evidently a new job a couple of years ago left him no time for his popular sideline in scope mounts but things are reputed to be easing off with him somewhat and his looking to possibly restarting manufacture of some of his mounts, so keep the faith.

The few I have are lovely pieces of work and have the three main requisites for me that a historic rifle LER scope mount should have.

Fits without gun-smithing so the firearm can be returned to its original configuration at any time.

Is solid and fits well so that it doesn't come loose with recoil.

Mounts the scope as low as possible on the rifle.

SK LER scope mounts are well made and fit well, are currently available but mount the scope unnecessarily high in my view from the couple I have. So the return of Darrels mounts would indeed be a blessing for us historic rifle shooters with failing eyes.

Oh how I wish I had machining and turning skills so as to be independent of the vagrancies of the market place!

Heh!... I spent part of yesterday building and fitting 'scope mounts for things that were never designed to take them. These look very simple and quite elegant, the only problem is I do not like copying other peoples work. It is unfair on them and unprofessional on my behalf.
