Northamptonshire Newbie

#1 Post by Tatter »

Hey there,

I'm an 18 year old lad from Northamptonshire, just left cadets, shot competitively 5.56 and 7.62, and casually .22 and .117 with the cadet forces. I was alright, but not amazing. But I miss shooting and my range days. I was thinking about getting a 7.62 target rifle, but obviously spending some time honing my skills on a range/club before hand.

I live dead smack in Northamptonshire and really just looking for a local(ish) club, with a chance to shoot from 100m-500m. I've only ever shot with iron sights, on a single shot, bolt action 7.62, however my shooting coach within the cadets would help me load so i wouldn't have to remove my hand from the rifle, and risk losing my aim.

I'm hoping to join the Army in the near future, currently in college, work part time.

Happy to answer any questions.

Alastair

Hi Alastair.

I'm in Northampton and shoot at the Northampton Target Sports Club on the A43 near Sywell. There's indoor to 25m and outdoor to 100m. No "proper" calibres are allowed bit it's good enough for some light recoil therapy.

I have been to the Target Sports Club while I was in the cadets. For some reason, haven't been for quite a while. But I was looking at their website and I can't see a guests/open day until mid January time.

Thank you for the welcomes.

You just missed the last open day of the year Sunday gone. We run them on the 2nd Sunday every other month, next one being January 12th 2014. As well as the web site http://ntsc-online.org.uk , we're also on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NorthamptonTargetSportsClub

Hey Alan,

As far as i'm aware, short of becoming a member, I have to be invited and 'introduced' by a current member of the club, and i'm not going to expect anyone to let some 'random kid from the internet' suddenly shoot 7.62.

I'll probably come down in January Majordisorder.

Welcome,

I can vouch for the Northamptonshire Club at Sywell.
I've shot as a guest there on several occasions, nice facilities and friendly (and also warm in the winter!)
Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.
