6.5x55 139grain bullets

I recently purchased one of the Shooting sheds small packs to try. I purchased 50 Lapua Scenar 6,5mm/.264 FMJBT 139 Grain Rifle Bullets. I took peoples advice and re loaded them to night using N160 into once fired neck sized trimmed Norma Brass. The maximum cartridge over all length I could achieve with out them jamming in the rifling and being difficult to extract is 2.933. So I will go with that. To morrow I will see how She performs. I had a thought whilst all this was going on this rifle would be ideal as it is for S class. Interesting any way to morrow will tell. I am going to shoot it off the bipod with the but supported on a bag filled with heavy sand. Should be fun.

I would not use heavy sand for just shooting off a front bag unless it is something very small as it tends to be quite unforgiving plus us heavy in your pocket. I use finest Danish sand bag sand from a DK army sandbag that found its way into our car a few years ago.

The sand is in the back bag its one of those leather rabbit ear things. The sand is heavy and quite fine its normally used in Industrial water filter beds. The filter beds are the size of a swimming pool the sand has to be heavy so it does not get washed away. Its quite expensive but I just happened to stumble across a few tonne of it before it went into a sand filter. :lol:

Maybe you should keep your eyes open, ooman: a few tonnes of sand should be easy enough to spot in time to take avoiding action...

Unfortunately it was charged into a rapid gravity sand filter.

Its a Industrial term.

If its domestic water treatment plant the filters are the last step in the process before it goes for drinking water etc.
If they are Industrial then quite often the next step is Ion exchange beds filled with a Zeolite resin that in the dry state also looks very much like fine sand.

The sheds 139grain bullets worked very well I had a good day I did not put a lot of rounds through the 6.5x55 as I only bought 50 but they worked well.
The rest of my shooting was done with this its a Lantac Jobby a fantastic bit of kit.
