Range lead wanted
In order to keep my boolit prices reasonable I need a constant supply of lead from the butts. Either steel plate or sand butts will give me a raw material to work with, can you help, please? I can't believe that clubs actually weigh it in at the scrap merchants!
If I have to use foundry lead it's going to be expensive and I don't want to have to buy a tonne or more.

Roger, the MoD ranges are having new electronic targets fitted at present and our local range warden (Barton Rd) said the upgrade included the sand being replaced so would it be worth asking Landmarc or maybe approaching some local MoD ranges to see if they will part with anything.

Re: Range lead wanted
Thanks Dave, but I really need lead from pistol calibres and .22 rounds - usually 25 yard ranges. Separating lead from the jackets dug out from the butts of military ranges is a PITAovenpaa wrote:Roger, the MoD ranges are having new electronic targets fitted at present and our local range warden (Barton Rd) said the upgrade included the sand being replaced so would it be worth asking Landmarc or maybe approaching some local MoD ranges to see if they will part with anything.

Re: Range lead wanted
I know ours goes to the scrap merchant....
We'll be clearing it all out in the next month or so...
I'm sure we could do a deal, I'll speak with the secretary/treasurer...
We are in the Midlands though, and it is, as you know, quite heavy stuff, this lead...
