FF or FFF powder...

#1 Post by bigfathairybiker »

Currently using FF as sold by the shop I got my .50 rifle from.

But... reading through several different lists...

Some say .50 and above use FFF and below .50 use FF.
Then others say up to and including .50 use FF and above use FFF.

Hmmmm... so what's correct and why?

I'd go with the FF, but why not try both and see what works best in your gun.

That is what I do.

Bigger the bore bigger the grain but..........

It isn't an exact science though, hence the differing advice.

Ooo.. I had a feeling it was something like that.

I also think I just got the FF and FFF mixed up.

In my measuring I've also found that tapping my filled powder vials the volume changes!

This black powder thing is getting extremely exciting and the best fun I've had so far.
I think a muzzle loading shotgun is up next to annoy the guys on the clay range.

Like all things shooting repetitive consistency is the key.

I've few M/L shotguns if you want a peek.
