Storing Shotgun cartridges on an FAC

Storing Shotgun cartridges on an FAC
Hi all.
I normally store my cartridges in my ammo safe, just to be... Safe
Recently I needed to pick up 300 for the UKPSA safety course and they wouldn't fit in my safe.
I managed to store them securely but it was a pain and involved moving other valuables out.
It did get me thinking though. I only have an FAC, no SGC, so while I can still buy I have a limit and wondered if I have to store my cartridges as if they were S1.
Any ideas?

are normal shotgun cartridges on your ticket?
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns

Yeah, separate allowance for slug too, those I know I have to keep in the safe :-)

Never seen normal cartridges listed on an SGC or FAC as you don't need either to possess them, Slugs yes. As for storage, anywhere out of sight of anyone visiting, the more secure the better.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

If you have an s1 shotgun you should have an allowance for shotgun cartridges, I'm assuming this is the same for everyone?

For standard S.2 cartridges, ALL a FAC slot for a S.1 shotgun gives you is proof skin to an SGC that you have a right to buy S.2 shotgun ammo.
ANYONE can possess S.2 shotgun ammo but you need an SGC or FAC (with S.1 shotgun listed) TO BUY S.2 ammo
My first/only shotgun(s) for over a decade were multishot...my FAC never mentioned shotgun ammunition.
ONLY after taking up PSG did my FAC list shotgun ammunition; S.1 slug...and even now I'm only allowed 200 max., several years later.
When it comes to the vagaries of UK gun laws, keep well away from assuming anything as common-sense/logic has very little part to play.
Hope this helps.
As others have said, no written requirement to have S.2 ammo in a safe

Yeah, you're ok with your sgc, I would have applied for both had I realised :-(

Best bet is to call them up and ask them. I've never heard of an FAC holder not having a SGC though I guess it's quite common.

"Best bet"? Compared to what?safetyfirst wrote:Best bet is to call them up and ask them. I've never heard of an FAC holder not having a SGC though I guess it's quite common.
The wording of the Firearms Acts & the Guidance notes give complete storage requirements.
You WOULD have heard about an FAC holder without a SGC if you'd read my previous post above...and yes, it is quite common esp. among purely target shooters
