Looking for a spotting scope

Looking for a spotting scope
Need a Spotting Scope for 1000 yards,
Not for seeing bullets holes :-)
Just so me and my son can score for each other.
Can any one recommend a reasonable priced one.
Or tell me of a Spec that would work,
Thanks
Paul

Re: Looking for a spotting scope
What sort of rifle/scope are you using at that distance?
I take it you are shooting at an NRA style target?

Most of the reasonably priced ones (under £100) are Chinese. Might be OK at 100 yards but I suspect you'll be disappointed at 1000 yards.podavies wrote:Need a Spotting Scope for 1000 yards,

If you are prepared to spend £250, Fox Firearms have a Nikula spotting scope that comes in its own Peli (type) case. I use a Kowa and Honestly, the Nikula is as good - for a third the price.

Re: Looking for a spotting scope
I have one of these. Never used it at 1000 but have at 600 and its pretty impressive. I'd be surprised if it didn't do the job at 1000. Nice and compact too which is always a bonus. I've never compared it to any of the Fox products that Vince mentions though. I'm pretty sure however if you ask a few people at bisley they might be willing to let you look through whatever you are using so you can get a basis of cheap vs. expensive and see where you are happy drawing the line.

Well, perhaps there is a good reason for that. Think about it......
