Finally after myself and a friend had our 15-22 extractors leave the bolt for the second time, I've worked out why.
If you use a looped cable tie as a breach flag ( haven't tried anything else yet ) and allow the bolt to rest against it, sometimes it will cause the extractor to flip out of the bolt.
Depending on how clean it is, the spring and detent plunger will follow.
The extractor will also travel around 10-15 feet!
So from now on I will just remove the bolt between range details.
Whilst on the subject of bolts and 22's, another friend showed my his Tangfolio .22 which hasn't had an extractor from new but extracts and ejects perfectly, apart from if you need to remove a round which has loaded but you haven't pulled the trigger yet. Then you need to get out a screwdriver or knife blade to pick it out. But what I did notice is that all his spent case were bulging in a small extra "rim" just in front of the rim. Sounds like a possible problem waiting to happen.
