I was looking at options for my M&P 15-22 mags to enable me to remove them quickly & shoot quicker, now the obvious choice & the one I went with was the Magpuls by Magpul. These are rubber & fit over the M&P 15-22 mags easily enough & do there job well. However, during my last range visit I noticed my lad struggling to keep the rifle aligned so he was resting the rifle on his arm which caused the mag to hit the table being used. This meant the rubber was twisting & bending & I realised that although they pull the mags out of pouches, that they also don't sit flat if touching a bench, ground or anything else for that matter!
So a bit of searching I came across many other options, but the one I liked the most I saw on the S&W forum boards & it was called GRIPP. They replace the bottom of the factory mags & are made from a similar polymer so are hard rather than rubber. I searched all over & couldn't find them for sale anywhere other than NDZ Performance... I've seen other bits I want from here but he won't post to the UK so it looked like I was out of luck yet again.
A return to the S&W forums & I came across the original thread by the guy who designed & created the GRIPPS, he'd also put his email on the boards so I sent him a message. The chap is called Martin (nice guy) he lives & is from Thailand. He also still produces the GRIPPS & sends them to NDZ to sell in the U.S. but was willing to sell me some direct. Now my mags are FDE so I chose black to add a contrast. I ordered four delivered to the UK, $25 all in! I was more than happy with that.
So here they are on two of my mags (connected with a FAB defence clip that's been adapted to fit).
Just thought it was worth sharing & if anyone else is interested in them he does them in several colours. I'll not put his email on here as not sure of the rules etc, but it's easy to find if anyone wants to purchase any. Gotta say, for the money I'm more than pleased. Just need two more FDE mags now .
