Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
A friend of mine has just bought a brand new Bora BR99 that he will be bringing to the club tomorrow night. I asked him how he likes it and he told me that it is still in the box in separate parts. He hasn't read the instructions and said that I can put it together for him, to which I said"Yes, no problem I'll check on the internet".... I mean how hard can it be? I own a AR style Sig 522 and I'm familiar with stripping most shotguns....
Unfortunately I can't find any details on the Bora BR99. I have watched videos of similar shotguns were you need to take off the buttplate, stock and an internal nut to separate the upper and lower action and remove the barrel for cleaning..... (which as a Benelli owner just seems ridiculous to me).
Does anyone have a link to the Bora BR99 instructions or a video?
Cheers,
HH1

He must have the instruction book in the box, and the IMPORTANT bit of paper about the feed ramp !!.
You don`t have to take the butt off for assembly normally. The gun is basically a Remington action, everything goes on from the front. BUT AGAIN its the feed ramp you need to understand the lever on the side.
Where is your mate living

Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
Strange, i wonder why its been shipped in pieces??
If its just the upper and lower separated its pretty straightforward, just push the two halves together (you may need to cock the hammer) and do up the nut inside the butt - N.B. You need a long hex driver to do this. I bought a 300mm extension bar that i used in conjuction with a t-handled bit driver. I THINK the hex bolt is 6mm.
As mentioned above, make sure the feed ramp is folded DOWN before doing any assembly (or dissassembly).
This video covers dissassembly of the MKA1919 but its 90% the same;
I'd do step 7 before step 6 in this video for dissassembly.
The differences are;
The BR99 had a one piece handguard and no delta rings and it just slips over the barrel/gas assembly so is simpler than this video
The BR99 gas regulator is permenantly attached to the barrel and the whole barrel should just be removed once the locking nut is taken off the guide rod
Theres only one screw holding the butt pad on

If it is brand new it will come with the sights and barrel removed. First job is remove the front and rear sight from the packaging and throw them in the bin, they are worthless.
Remove the front hand guard by unscrewing the cap nut at the front lower side, it is the one with the sling loop on.
Remove the inner nut, this is done by hand, make a note of the orientation.
Remove the odd little cover on the bolt lever.
Slide the barrel into place, this can be fiddly when to comes to fully seating it so you can aid the process by pulling the bolt back slightly, seat the barrel in place and let the bolt go forward.
Refit the inner nut and tighten and hand, slide the forend in place and secure with the outer nut and you are good to go.
Remember those sights? Throw them away if you have not done so already.
A word of warning. Do not under any circumstances allow the bolt to fly forwards without the barrel in place or you will smash the feed ramp. The feed ramp can be lowered if needed by turning the lever front edge of the lower receiver and you will need to do this if you intend to remove the bolt at any stage.
To remove the bolt strip and remove the barrel, lower the feed ramp, pull the bolt back about halfway and pull hard on the bolt handle and it should come out, you can now push the bolt and carrier forward and remove everything for cleaning. You should never need to remove the trigger however if you do the pins are pushed out right to left.
Shout if you need to know more.

Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
Many thanks, that is really useful. My friend does have the instructions but he hadn't read them when we last spoke. This is one shotgun were you do need to read the instructions as far as I can see...... certainly with the risk of smashing off the feed ramp.
Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
Once again, thanks for the helpful instructions... the shotgun arrived at the club with the barrel removed. The gun went together without any trouble and I do now appreciate that you need to get the bolt in exactly the right position in order to seat the barrel. The new owner rightly had the first go and I was pleased to see it worked as it should.... grins all around.
There were 6 of us on the range with 5 shotguns, the new Bora, 3 Mossberg pumps and my Benelli M2 Practical.
Observations:
The Bora magazine springs were really strong and it took quite a bit of strength to load them (two x 5 rounds and two 10 rounds).
Shooting the gun and observing others shoot it, I noticed that it did jump around quite a bit.... muzzle flip was quite evident.
Another thing was if you removed an empty mag, left the bolt open and put the gun down on its left hand side on the bench, then the bolt release catch would touch the bench and close the bolt... not ideal if you want to show clear.
We carried out some speed tests with four of us all in line shooting at once. All of the section 1 guns had 9 or 10 round capacity. The Bora was faster than the two Mossberg pumps..... but it was absolutely no mach for my Benelli M2 Practical which was at least twice as fast.... in no small part to the ported barrel and comfortect stock....... the other guys all tried both the Bora and the Benelli and while they liked the Bora as a fun gun, each of them commented on how awesome my Benelli is..... but there again it is 3 times the price of the Bora.
We all had great fun shooting various targets

Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
In fairness to the Bora, if a Benelli M2 fits you then the BR99 will definitely not, hence the ability to control the M2 more and fire it more quickly, plus the Bora was the 'new gun'.
You're right about the mag springs but they do calm down after a few dozen loadings though. Don't be tempted to cut them to make loading easier/increase their capacity as I was! The manufacturers make them that strength for a reason and if they could get away with using less material they would.

Glad you had fun...remember you should show clear, insert safety flag into gun, close bolt then leave firing point. this is the BEST way with the BR99.HH1 wrote:Once again, thanks for the helpful instructions... the shotgun arrived at the club with the barrel removed. Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
The BR's tendency to close the bolt if laid on its left side is a bit unnerving if you are not used to it and a flag is by far the best way to go.
Re: Bora BR99 assembly / disassembly instructions ?
Yes, a safety flag would have been useful... I will advise my friend to use one from now on.
As I say, it wasn't my gun.... and although I could probably get used to a Bora.... I've no intension of giving up my wonderful Benelli... I had fun with it agin yesterday, this time shooting clays
