Ark Royal...
........on a very soggy Saturday in Newcastle. It was a pleasure to look around her but the queue to actually get off the ship was a nightmare!

I steered HMS Charybdis, once, back in the late 60s!
Navy Days, Pompe. They even demonstrated firing anti sub depth charges...they fire over the top of the ship...what a rather large bang and splash!
Can you imagine H&S on that one now?
AHHHH....The Ark was tied up when we left port, we gave her a salute when we passed. Charybdis was engaged in Sea Wolf protection for the flagship the Ark, during first Gulf war.
The sixth Charybdis was a Leander-class frigate launched in 1968 and sunk as a target in 1993.

Re: Ark Royal...
Never managed the Ark, but did manage Invincible and Illustrious. Even had a flight off Illustrious.
