I've just heard that Eric "Winkle" Brown had died, aged 97. This chap has never received the recognition he deserves, a truly great test pilot and an amazing career.
He holds the record (by a mile) for the most aircraft carrier landing at well over 2,000 and the record for the most different types of planes flown at 450ish.
If you're interested in flying then I would highly recommend his story "Wings on my sleeve"
Where are guys of this calibre now?
Eric "winkle" Brown dies 97.

This man had been there and done it all. Absolutely fearless and very intelligent to boot. May he rest in peace.
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.
