Knife sharpener
I am after a small knife sharpener for a hunting/bushcraft knife (60 degre angle).
I found 2 mdls that could do the trick : Lansky Tactical "Blade Medic" & the Smith's Pocket Pal - Multi Function Knife Sharpener
http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/lans ... 0357-p.asp
http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/smit ... 7026-p.asp
Any suggestions ?

Re: Knife sharpener
For an emergency sharpener in the field the Blade Mediic you've found is hard to beat.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Knife sharpener
I only have plain blades rather than serrated, so use an older version of this:

Only cost me a fiver and still going strong. Decent edge too.

Re: Knife sharpener
Lansky are always a good option.
Re: Knife sharpener
I always carry a falkniven dc4 with my knife. It is easily portable and you can get one with a belt loop case from thebushcraftstore.co.uk....
Re: Knife sharpener
Is this for field use or for home use?
I use a Lansky kit to make the first sharpening and set the bevels. You would want the diamond stones to cut at a reasonable rate, the normal ones take ages to reprofile.
In the field I then touch up with whatever is at hand, the top of a car window or the bottom of a ceramic mug being very useful in this regard. If you want to carry something the Fallkniven DC4 is good but the diafold is better: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DMT-FWFC-Doubl ... B00004WFTW
Ask Bruce or Sherman to try the edge on their knives, I sharpened them for them!
Drop the knife to me next time I see you at the club and I'll put the first edge on it for you if you like.
Best,

Re: Knife sharpener
Thanks VM it was for my Vz Bayo but it is now living with my rifle in CR. In all fairness once it was there it was looking a tad too “military/tactical” for my taste so I ended up getting a Uton Vz75 which is not as “agressive” looking and more discret for bushcraft.
