How to put a moderator on initial grant?

Hello, new poster and first question of many
I am sending off my FAC and have read on here its a good idea to include a mod on your FAC because it allows 1 for 1 swap later without going through a variation.
I have applied for a .22LR, 223 and 308. Is it best to put down for each?
Other than that I think I am ready to go so will be back soon for more questions!
Thanks.

Hello and welcome
Yes put a mod down for each cal and if questioned just say it is for health and safety reasons - but you probably won't be

Thanks, how should I term that in the slot just put
Cal - 223 and type moderator?
Do you have to put anything in the reason box? Or just put H&S?
Thanks.

That's exactly right. I put down for two 22lr, one 6.5mm and a 223 moderator. Stated health and safety as I only do target shooting, and got them no problem. This was during my FAC renewal after 5 years. When you buy a moderator, chances are they won't have a serial number so when you said paperwork to plod you can put "no visible number" under the section for serial number.
Also welcome to the forum!

I put down H&S & reducing noise pollution. Was granted four moderators with no questions.

Same here.
I didn't have a problem.
As with everything you apply for just make sure you have a viable reason that you can talk through if / when asked.
I was given some sound advice to have reasoned justification for calibers so you can talk through them at interview stage.
"My mate down the club said this is what I should ask for" doesn't really show you in a good light.
Think what to say when asked "why do you want a .308 and a .223" etc.
I was quizzed on why I wanted a .223 as well as a .308.
Mods should be the easy bit. This is from BASC's how to guide to firearms application....
For a sound moderator you might enter “to protect hearing and reduce disturbance” for example.

Oh and in the TYPE section just put "Rifle" don't put, bolt action ,semi auto ot straight pull.
Otherwise it might come back as action specific , which will limit your choice if you change your mind.

You still need to apply for a variation though if you don't want the mods but you save the £20 fee.

Thanks all. Good info.
Out of interest how much space does 1500 RF take up? Just deciding if I need an ammo safe?

It'll fit in a small safe but probably not in an internal one.
