Armtac RS-1 Shotgun.....it's a Saiga!!!
I got to have a good look at one of these shotguns today and I have to say I was very impressed.Because of the Russian arms embargo Armsan now have the rights to produce the Saiga-12 Semi-Auto Shotgun for the European market. Now called the RS S1 Armtac it is a nice bit of kit, far nicer than the Bora BR99 and the UTAS.The stock and handguards fit nice and tight and there are no rattles and it feels like a serious shotgun, unlike the Bora I tried which felt toy-like in comparison.
The one I fondled belongs to a mate of mine and he has said it runs flawlessly on whatever cartridges he feeds it and will take genuine Saiga mags with a bit of a file on the back of the mag, I think this is due the the Armtac having a straight insert magwell whereas the Russian Saiga mags "rock and lock" like a traditional AK.
I will be trying on the range over Christmas so will update on how it shoots but if first impressions are anything to go by I can see one of these finding it's way into the cabinet at some point , especially at the price they are compared to a Russian Saiga or Vepr-12.

Re: Armtac RS-1 Shotgun.....it's a Saiga!!!
Are these actually a Saiga which have been "moved" through Turkey or are they Turkish made?
Re: Armtac RS-1 Shotgun.....it's a Saiga!!!
Ive been fancying one of these but the Turkish made tag has put me off to a degree.
If they are Saigas then it could be a different tale

Now if it was Vepr then we might be talking...

From what I was told they are built under license in Turkey with some parts from Russia.Gazza wrote:Are these actually a Saiga which have been "moved" through Turkey or are they Turkish made?

Looks to be an RPK type receiver as it has the reinforcement on the right side.breacher wrote:Based on AKM or RPK receiver ?

From what I saw today they really don't look or feel any different to an actual Saiga.I doubt JSC KalashnikovConcern would have granted a license if Armsan where going to turn out tat as they have granted very few over the years.Gazza wrote:Ive been fancying one of these but the Turkish made tag has put me off to a degree.

To be honest there doesn't appear to be a lot of difference.....as much as I like my Russian firearms I have to admit this one looks pretty damn good for a Turk!BamBam wrote:Now if it was Vepr then we might be talking...

Then closer to a Vepr than a Saiga ?snayperskaya wrote:Looks to be an RPK type receiver as it has the reinforcement on the right side.breacher wrote:Based on AKM or RPK receiver ?
