One for Sim G - Savage 1899
Got this Savage 1899 U/L (best underlevers ever made :55: ) in 300 Savage shooting courtesy of Simon who graciously gave me some scope rings for it. Tried it out on my last trip to Scotland and it shot very well.
Best 110 yards groups were with 35 - 36 grains of VV N140 under a 155 gn SMK.

As you say the best U/L ever made, Savage told me that they have seriously looked into bringing these back into production five times, such is the demand for them but unfortunately they cannot get the numbers to work. The first gun that put Savage on the map and extremely sought after.

Very nice.
You should refrain from shooting sheeps with it, Dromia.

Now that is lovely! I have a passion for lever guns and I'm a massive Savage fan....... I might just have to get one of those!!
Is that an old Redfield on the top as well?

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
