Strange vibes?

I've asked this question on another forum and got some interesting answers.....it might sound weird but bear with me

Taking into consideration the long history that many service rifles we own have and the job that they did does anyone have a particular rifle that gives off a strange vibe or feeling?.

The reason I ask is when I am handling my 1915 New England Westinghouse Mosin I get a strange feeling I can't really describe that I don't get from any of my other rifles.I don't normally prescribe to this sort of thing but there is something about it that feels weird and not quite "right".

Or maybe it's a deeply subliminal discomfort, nay almost a cleft in the universal fabric, arising from the fact that this particular glorious Mosin was created by the fascist capitalist running dogs its very being was meant to eradicate. A rifle with such a split personality i may eventually implode...

Never had the feeling personally, but for such reasons I've always avoided the SS crap people love to pay horrendous prices to own - frankly if you want to own a gun marked to the SS then you need your head checking.

I have a Gibbs take-down .256 Manlicher that I always wonder about, I also know pretty much the whole life story of the original owner back in the early 1900s and he was a thoroughly honourable and altruistic sort that passed away far too young.

The one that gives me an odd feeling is a Lee Speed Pattern No2 that is kept for Sunday best. No reason why, just feels odd when I handle it.

If you own ww2 memorabilia because you agree with the philosophy behind it then yes your head needs checking.

If you own the same from a historical point of view then I see nothing wrong with that, it is at the end of the day just an object which existed during a specific period of time and event.

This takes me back to one of the stories in the old "commando" booklets of the 70's where in one a murdered soldier's SMLE mysteriously started firing by itself eventually killing all of the protagonists.. I wouldn't rely on it as a defense in court though.

It also reminds me of the" Rivers of London" novels by Ben Arronovich where he terms it "vestigia" the idea that objects and buildings hold onto memories of their past and can be read by others.

Perhaps snayperskaya is part fae and he doesn't know it.

What we know is a drop......what we don't know is an ocean.

I can't explain the feeling but like it or not I get it every time the rifle is out of the safe.There are many things in life that can't be explained.
