Rifled barrels
Just poking about the internet and found a gun shop offering a pump action shotgun with a rifled barrel and they also have a 12 bore semi-auto with a folding stock and a 24inch barrel.
Just me or dodgy?

If being sold as S1 or S2 then yes dodgy. There are actually a surprising number of S5 dealers out there though.

Re: Rifled barrels
rifled shotgun barrels seem to be grey area (i've seen a fair few mosberg 500 "slugsters" for sale over the years=there is even one this site). I think this is due to the fact they are still classified as being section 1 shotguns with a rifled barrel rather than actual rifles. I can't see anything in the legislation that would clear it up though. Im guessing another grey area that each police force will have a different opinion on.
Is the semi auto with a folding stock still foldable? i have seen shotguns with folding stocks that have been pinned in place (such as the Spas-12's you occasionally see for sale)

Re: Rifled barrels
As already pointed out, the problem issue is that a pump action rifle is Section 5. However if only the shotgun action is pump action then it depends how the rifle is cycled.

Doesn't look very pinned to me

Re: Rifled barrels
i can't see how a 24" barreled pump/semi shotgun with a colapsable stock from 13-15" would be section one/two either. that doesn't make it 40"oal.
Law says 24/40 doesn't it? Unless its lever or doublebarreled, then it can be 12/24

Re: Rifled barrels
His website says it is a special order. Upon trying to order it with his supplier he will find he cannot..

Re: Rifled barrels
One would hope, for the sake of the person that orders it at least!!
It seems pretty clear in the legislation to me? S5 by virtue of 5(1) (ab) - "any self-loading or pump-action rifled gun other than one which is chambered for .22 rimfire cartridges."
Note it doesn't mention either shotgun or rifle, only 'rifled gun'.
