RCBS Bench top Auto Priming Tool
Any one use one of the RCBS bench top Auto priming tools am I better off getting one of these instead of the hand priming jobby. Any one use one if so what do you reckon.
Re: RCBS Bench top Auto Priming Tool
No body on the forum has ever used a RCBS bench top priming tool ?.
I ordered another hand held universal RCBS priming tool I intend to dedicate to small pistol primers.
If no one has ever used one of the bench top jobbies which I find astonishing well I should probably buy one and find out if they are any good for my self.
A reloading forum and no one has ever used a RCBS bench top priming tool I find that hard to believe.

Obviously it wont let me edit or add to the previous post. (Stupid forum rules)
So a separate post I ordered one it was not a great deal more expensive than the hand held one its got good reviews we will see.
I will let you know how I get on.

Alpha1,
I’ve got both RCBS priming units, the bench version and the universal hand version. Now that I think about it, I’ve got about 4 other types as well, and I can honestly say I prefer the bench primer over them all.
Certainly some of the hand versions can be more convenient, and give more feel, but when tight primer pockets come into play seating by hand is a pain, whereas the leverage of the bench primer comes into its own.
The one caveat I would add is I do worry about the possibility of a chain fire with primers in the tube.
Having said that, it’s still the 1st unit i reach for when cases need to be primed.

Too many operations for me, I find the hand primer much easier to use.
Once the primers are loaded into the drop tube,
Lower handle to load primer into primer cup
Raise handle slightly to drop primer cup
Insert case
Lower handle to prime
Raise handle again
Remove case
Once the primer tray is loaded,
Insert case
prime
Remove case

Re: RCBS Bench top Auto Priming Tool
It actually took quite a bit of searching to actually find one in stock in the UK. I haven't received it yet but I have read the reviews and watched lots of You tube videos on peoples opinion of the bench top primer unit it has a couple of minor faults by all accounts that I think I can engineer out.
I will probably use it for rifle calibers if it works out OK. The hand held universal primers one will be set up for large primers and the second one will be set up for small primers. I am all ready using the hand primer and up to now I have had no issues. And 100% better than the Lee offerings. (That's the new Lee offerings the original hand held primer unit was Ok. It all went south when they changed the design.)
I am going to have a stock take and see if I can off load some of my Lee stuff to help recover the cost.

Fell at the first hurdle the RBS bench priming tool arrived this morning but it came with two small priming arms and cups. No large one so I can not use it for large primers which is what I wanted it for. Oh dear.

Re: RCBS Bench top Auto Priming Tool
I still use the Lee on-press safety prime.
It functions well on my turret press, with no possibility of a chain reaction if the primer in the ram goes off.
