No.
16 gns of 2400 is "The Load".
Harris promptly renaged the Red Dot load as he got pressure spiking and is not regarded as a safe load.
A classic example of the dangers of internet data, when only half a story gets left.
I suggest you read his article on "CAST BULLET LOADS FOR MILITARY RIFLES" a copy of which is in this forums library.

Interesting as Alliant 2400 is a magnum pistol powder however the manufacturer lists a load for .223 rifle using a 55g bullet.

Burning rates are burning rates, the classifications "fast pistol, slow pistol, fast rifle, slow rifle etc. are at best just guidelines as to applications and there is much overlap of the classification liminal's.

I just want something to shoot at 100yrds
It shouldn't be hard , but all you see is full stoke rifle loads. I just want to hit paper consistently at 100yrds

Yes, but i have 170 gr gas checked boolits and pistol powders

Start at 5 grains and work up to 7 grains, Red Dot is a smidgen faster than Bullseye.

No pressure data for these loads but there is statistical evidence as to its safety.

At least 1/4 of a million rounds fired with these loads of the past five years with no issue.

On top of that there is then the US statistical data which must be many millions.

It appears so in some charts for some reason but it is indeed faster than bullseye, it is also the original "bulk" pistol powder now much copied and overcharged for with the likes of Trailboss where a fool and his money are easily parted at purchase.
