A friend has given up shooting and gifted me a .50 cal smoothbore kentucky rifle, with it came a small supply of lead shot, powder, percussion caps etc, if I was to go down the route of using lead ball instead of shot would I need to have the gun and ammo on my FAC instead of my shotgun cert?
Cheers

No you can shoot lose ball from a smooth bore on a SGC. Loose ball and powder isn't Section 1 ammunition as the legislation only talks about cartridges.

If you want to stay within your shotgun ticket, you can not shoot any projectile greater than .36 inch diameter and there must be at least 5 of them. loose powder and ball are not covered but shooting them is.
