Hi all
I've just got my hands on a Franchi Alcione but the foam on the buttplate it's completely gone.
I've searched online for compatible buttplates but can't seem to find any cost effective alternative that fits this model.
Any advice on how to solve this?
Thank you

Re: Franchi buttplate
I had a Alcione many moons ago and it had a hard plastic butt plate fitted. Has it been cut down and a soft pad added at a later date.
The only real way to do this is to buy a rubber pad and grind it down to size. Not a job for the feint hearted if you don't intend to refinish the stock..
It can be done by fitting it into place and then scribing around the stock with a sharp scriber and then taking it off and grinding it down on a linisher belt.
Takes time and patience and a bit of dexterity, but it can be done. You can buy a jig from Brownells to do this but they are quite expensive and require an orbital grinder on the linishing machine.

Never argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
