Shotgun certificate

#1 Post by onlymeagain »

I am applying for a new shotgun certificate and it is moving along very well at the moment.
Had my doctors paperwork back within 10 days of dropping them off at the surgery. The application was then sent last Thursday evening and tonight the firearm officer came around the house. We talked about the application and what I would guess normal questions on health, stress, depression etc. Decided on where the cabinet will be installed and that was it.

All in all it has been very smooth so far, hopefully within a few weeks my certificate will arrive.

Wow, very speedy work considering the Internet tales of woe the last few years. Lwts hope this is the start of the future :)

I did a bit of research and was expecting 90 days to be honest.
Will keep you all updated as to the next steps.

Wow that is good going. Likely that the FEO had another meeting in the area so squeezed you in to save them having to come back. Fingers crossed the next wait is just as short.

So yesterday the shotgun license arrive. The form was submitted on the evening of the 5th of October and 19 days later the license arrived.
Cannot say how impressed I am with how quickly this all happened.
I have the cabinet installed and going shopping this weekend for a gun.

Your thread title is correct - a CERTIFICATE not as you later refer to licence.

Shoppin for A guns, surely that should read "guns"

I am surprised they issued the certificate with out a gun safe being installed.

Originally got my SGC without a safe installed or even an agreed location - although it was 25 years ago.

When I did install one, a courtesy call to the FEO - "thanks, we won't come and look but maydo on next renewal". Then when moved it, same response.
