#1 Post by xcudlaty »

Hi

Wonder if anybody could advice what moderator for it? Thread is 5/8 x 24 UNEF I'm looking for something going over barrel, not to make it too long. Was thinking about Wildcat Predator T12 but is rather heavy ?

TAC A1 is a heavy rifle anyway, How are you going to be shooting it? If off a bipod the weight won't matter,

Mainly of bipod laying down I use it as target rifle . However I'm not that small and don't mind carry it around fields :) Is moderator going change POI a lot?

It will do, adding anything to the barrel will change POI and possibly groups,

A Predator 8 is absolutely fine for .308Win and significantly lighter than a 12 and therefore potentially will have a smaller influence on PoI.

However, other than with my VZ58 (where the can was direct thread and butted up to the gas block/front sight), all fullbore rifles i've had, have had a PoI shift with/without a moderator. Personally I just always shoot with one one and set my scope and dope up in that configuration.

DPT are very good moderators, easily broken down to clean as well.

To be completely honest, I no need it even for sound moderating. More to reduce recoil. I took muzzle break off to not upset other club members shooting on sides of me :) Unless there is muzzle break which wouldn't blow gases to sides?

I've got a hauksen on my 30-06 tikka t3x super varmint, ive tried a few others but tbh they are a much of a muchness and not enough difference to make a difference, the bullet has usually hit the target before it hears the shot anyhow.

Are you sure of the thread size?
Was it factory threaded?

I would say I'm, I bought thread protector after I took muzzle break of, with 5/8x24 and fits. As far as I know this is factory thread for this barrel
