Replacing cracked gunstock?

#1 Post by Martiniman »

I would appreciate any recommendations for a stock maker in the UK happy to replicate a military one which is unfortunately cracked. I suspect cost could be prohibitive but feedback/opinions would be gratefully received.

Thank you all.

You might want to try Ross Haygarth up in Dunnet.

The stock work he has done for me in the past has been exemplary but since Colin, his father's death he has the whole business to run now.

As you say I think it would be a tad on the pricey side.

Hello - sadly it predates these - M71 carbine. I may still send him an email and wait for the agitated reply 😄

There's a french polisher and woodworker on one of the airgun forums who regularly repairs both air gun amd shotgun/full bore stocks to a fantastic standard (even when they are in 2-3 separate pieces). How big is the crack/split, perhaps it can be repaired?

That sounds interesting. Next question - any thoughts which forum?
