Ultrasonic brass rifle case cleaner.

#1 Post by Mauserbill »

Hello
I have the chance of a second hand 3litre heated ultrasonic cleaner, I have always used crushed shell in a vibratory cleaner.
Are there any advantages and disadvantages to using an ultrasonic.
Do you just use ordinary tap water.
Do you use any washing liquid or any other type of additive, and in what quantity.
Thanks for you anticipated help.

Warm tap water + teaspoonful of Fairy + tsp citric acid (cheap from ebay), buzz for 45 mins, rinse well, blow dry with hot air gun.

Really easy to use, just doesn't get quite as shinny as some of the other options.
No issues with any media getting in the primer pockets etc.
Plus it is great for cleaning all sorts of other bits and pieces

i have one, but never really had success with it. you say 'chance', is this a free chance or a purchase chance? if free, i'd say take it and try, nothing ventured and all that. If it's pay to play, then maybe think about how much you want to spend trying it out.

Hello
No its not a freebee by any means, I was hoping for some really good reviews, as I don`t think its worth it just for cleaning my specs and jewellery as much cheaper and smaller ones are available for that.

Don't put anything in there that you're concerned about the finish if its painted or non-molecular coating. I've stripped numerous things in mine (using just water and white vinegar, nothing harsh). Fortunately nothing that was expensive/asthetic (aside from my Benelli M2s bolt 8-) )

I just use tepid water and bicarbonate of soda in my ultrasonic cleaner and it takes around 20 minutes to get brass clean.
