Christmas Eve 1941 .303

IMG_0342 Christmas Eve box pf .303 center of tin box.JPG
I wanted to share what I found in a sporting goods shop several years ago while selecting some ammunition for a range trip.
What were your parents, grandparents and great grandparents doing on Christmas Eve 1941, apparently manufacturing ammunition.
Both boxes are put away for safe keeping, the box with the string around it, as many probably already know, the string was tied onto the middle box on top within the tin of .303 in order to have something to grab onto with the fingers, very thoughtful of someone, otherwise it's difficult to get that first box of shells out of the unsealed tin.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Sobering thought , that on Christmas Eve weapons and ammunition of destruction were still needed .

Indeed a great piece of history and it is good to see you have preserved it, hopefully for future generations to hold and marvel at.

Not weapons and ammunition of destruction .... weapons and ammunition of self preservation. I hope none among us will ever again have to contemplate giving everything to fight for survival.

Merry Christmas, and peace on earth.

No taking Christmas Eve day off in 1941, as has been described in history, this period was the finest hour.

A Safe and Merry Christmas Everyone
