Interesting information about the photographers of the day. I did not know they traveled around like that. Article is poorly written however I got the point of it :)
I guess finding the families of those girls will be more by chance than anything else, so few records from back then.

Christel, you just never know. I agree the article is poorly written but it has gotten quite a lot of coverage over here, who knows someone somewhere just might know who that wee girl is. I for one would love to know who she is and who her father was. We have a Civil war museum down in the State Capital, Lansing. I visited it a couple of years back and was facinated by some of the stuff they had.
Likewise a week or so back when we had visitors from the UK we went up to Fort Michilimackinac which is not far from here on the shores of lake Michigan. Originally founded by the French as a military fort and fur trading post it was later abandoned by the french and taken over by the British. I could have wandered around there all day long, we took some really interesting photo's of how they lived at the time and the weapons they used. They are on my wife's camera so I will get them off there and post a few if you like.
