Not even remotely like a no8 sight fitting: this uses two holes on .625" centres ACROSS the stock. Something like a Lyman tang sight has been fitted. Lots of makers of these and lots of different hole centres used.

Many thanks to all for the replies, I will search out a sight with 50mm fixing hole centres.

Something like doesn't narrow it down much...FredB wrote:Not even remotely like a no8 sight fitting: this uses two holes on .625" centres ACROSS the stock. Something like a Lyman tang sight has been fitted. Lots of makers of these and lots of different hole centres used.

I went with No.8 due to location on the stock, as I was not privy to the hole spacing data from the previous photos
I have a Parker-Hale flip up aperture sight on an FN Trombone, will measure the hole spacing on that next time it's out

The sight that was on your rifle would have been a tang sight , easy to find on google images ,
Something along these lines .
